The Consulegis Autumn Conference was held on 27th and 28th October by our partners Lawyalty Avvocati Associati and Izzi Toniatti Perron-Cabus Martini & Partners, with the participation of the director of the Barcelona and Canary Islands law firms and member of the Consulegis Board, Ms Elena Bello Cárdenes.
The northern Italian city of Venice was the chosen venue for the event, which attracted over 150 participants from all over the world.
The first day began with a welcome lunch on the rooftop of the Marriot Hotel. This was followed by a series of round tables dedicated to current affairs in the legal sector.
Topics covered included: litigation and dispute resolution; enforcement of foreign judgments; overview of the latest trends & challenges in labour & immigration; commercial & trade, navigating the current complex global framework, the effects of sanctions against Russia and the impact in Switzerland; legal opportunities and challenges in the UK; commercial and trade network in the open Balkan region; legal considerations of AI in the healthcare business.
Clive Beer (Savills) moderated the panel of the Family Governance Working Group, which on this occasion dealt with tax issues related to succession in family matters.
On the second day, panel discussions covered the following topics: blockchain, crypto and NFTs: opportunities & challenges today; IT and Data Protection; Data Protection in Singapore; the new Swiss data protection law; legislative developments on cybersecurity in the US and Europe; Human Rights, equality and diversity, Australian Human Rights Law, indigenous rights in Australia, women and diversity in law; EU DAC 6 Directive and US FATCA rules; regulatory changes in Italy, the EU DAC 6 Directive and the US FATCA rules; legal developments in the US and Europe; Real Estate and Environmental latest trends; latest trends in Real Estate in Switzerland.
At the same time, participants had the opportunity to enjoy the most emblematic corners of the romantic city of Venice in their leisure time and get to know its millenary history, its impressive architecture, its canals, its people and its gastronomy.
