Consulegis Spring Conference & AGM 2022 in Lisbon

The CONSULEGIS Spring Conference & AGM 2022 took place in Lisbon from 12 to 14 May, with a record number of participants this year, organised by the law firm Abreu Advogados. The participants debated the current legal situation and the new framework conditions and trends in the legal sector.

The law firm Dr. Frühbeck Abogados, S.L.P., was represented by Elena Bello Cárdenes, Director of the Barcelona and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria law offices.

On Thursday afternoon, the CONSULEGIS annual general meeting and board elections were held first. Before the formalities of the election in the magnificent auditorium of Abreu Advogados, Duarte Athayde, Chairman of the Board of Abreu Advogados, and Fernando Hernández, Chairman of CONSULEGIS, welcomed the participants with a brief review of the enormous work, development and milestones achieved in the last 32 years.

Another balance and anniversary was that of Caroline Chetrit for her 5 years as Executive Director of CONSULEGIS. The Advisory Board was also newly elected and all four Advisory Board members were re-elected, including our colleague Elena Bello Cárdenes from Dr. Frühbeck Abogados.

All participants were happy to rekindle the connections. New and old members spent three wonderful days in enchanting Lisbon. The host team of Abreu Advogados created the perfect setting for this long-awaited CONSULEGIS event.

The new format of the AGM and conference, which gave members plenty of time to talk and discuss, was very well received by members. There were a total of 10 workshops and panel discussions, plus two excellent keynote presentations. Topics covered included labour and immigration issues with a special focus on telework; business, tax and restructuring issues; IT and data protection issues or the topic of intellectual property.

Besides the full programme of lectures and workshops, there was also time for fun and entertainment. Participants enjoyed Portuguese cuisine and music in different bars and restaurants, discovered local artists, painted tiles, took a tram ride through the city and shared ideas in stunning surroundings.

Ana Rita Duarte de Campos presented two books by Nuno Judice and Fernando Pessoa to the participants and gave a great surprise with the CONSULEGIS photo book. The photo book for all members honours over 30 years of work, trust and friendship at CONSULEGIS.

The conference in Lisbon was one of the biggest events in the history of our network with 160 and it was encouraging to see so many faces in person again.
